Works Begin: Forrestfield-Airport Link
Works are beginning on the first part of Mark Mcgowan’s Metronet – The Forrestfield Airport Link. The line will open in late 2020 and airport commuters will enjoy a quick 18 minute trip to the city. There are three new stations: Belmont, Airport Central and Forrestfield.
Commenting on the project Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said the Forrestfield-Airport Link was an important part of the government’s transport plan.
“As well as creating 2000 jobs throughout the life of the project, the Forrestfield-Airport Link will revolutionise public transport in the eastern foothills, and provide choice for how many of us travel to and from Perth Airport,” she said.
“The Forrestfield-Airport Link will provide affordable, efficient and quick access to the airport and eastern foothills – it will be a two-zone fare from the CBD.”
